Treating Diseases and Disorders of the Cornea with State-of-the-Art Technology

The cornea is the clear, front surface of the eye that is responsible for focusing light onto the retina. Any condition inherited or acquired that affects corneal clarity or shape will affect one’s ability to see. When significant changes in the optical quality of the cornea occur, SouthEast Eye Specialists has physicians who are highly experienced surgeons in the field of corneal transplantation surgery.

SouthEast Eye Specialists’ Dr. Bierly and Dr. Lindquist both completed fellowships in cornea/external disease, during which they received comprehensive training in the most advanced surgical procedures. Their expertise in corneal surgery includes endothelial transplantation, femtosecond laser assisted keratoplasty and keratoprosthesis. They incorporate the latest advances in transplantation microsurgery, such as DSEAK – a less invasive procedure which requires only a partial replacement of the cornea. DSEAK is the preferred procedure for restoring diseased or damaged internal sections of the cornea.
