The cornea is the transparent, dome-shaped part of the eye. If the cornea is not shaped correctly, the eye cannot properly focus light rays, which leads to nearsightedness, farsightedness and/or astigmatism. In addition to contour problems, corneas might also become diseased. Two of the most common cornea conditions are keratitis and keratoconus.
